Make this hearty Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza for a satisfying weekend brunch or family breakfast. It uses a simple crescent roll base, creamy sausage gravy, fluffy eggs, and melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12 oz) tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage, casing removed
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded pepper jack cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it into a 12-inch pizza crust shape on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from the oven.
  2. While the crust bakes, cook the breakfast sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain off most of the grease, leaving about 2 tablespoons in the pan.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir constantly for 1 minute.
  4. Slowly whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth. Bring the gravy to a simmer, stirring often, until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Remove the gravy from the heat.
  6. In a separate small pan, cook the eggs scrambled or sunny-side up to your preference. If scrambling, cook until just set.
  7. Spread the sausage gravy evenly over the partially baked crescent crust.
  8. Top the gravy with the cooked eggs and then sprinkle both the cheddar and pepper jack cheeses over the top.
  9. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 5 to 8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a Southern-style flavor, use buttermilk instead of regular milk in the gravy.
  • Use turkey sausage for a lower fat option.
  • If you prefer a crispier crust, bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
