Follow this simple method to roast sweet potatoes until they are crispy on the outside and soft inside. You can choose a savory seasoning blend or add a simple maple glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Optional Sweet Glaze: 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 Celsius). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easier cleanup.
  2. Place the cubed sweet potatoes in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil.
  3. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika to the potatoes. Toss well until every piece is evenly coated.
  4. Spread the seasoned sweet potatoes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan; use two sheets if necessary to promote crisping.
  5. Roast for 20 minutes.
  6. Remove the pan from the oven. If you are making the sweet version, drizzle the maple syrup or honey over the potatoes and gently toss them on the pan.
  7. Return to the oven and roast for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the edges are caramelized and the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
  8. Serve immediately as a quick dinner side or holiday roasted vegetables.

Notes

  • For the crispiest results, ensure the sweet potatoes are in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  • If you prefer a savory finish without the glaze, skip step 6 and roast for a total of 30-35 minutes.
  • These are excellent for meal prep; store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
