Create your own Starbucks-style pumpkin spice latte at home using real pumpkin puree and warm spices. This recipe is customizable for sweetness and dietary needs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
  • 12 tablespoons maple syrup or sugar, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: Whipped cream, extra pumpkin pie spice for topping

Instructions

  1. Combine milk, pumpkin puree, maple syrup (or sugar), pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until warm and well combined. Do not boil.
  3. Pour the hot pumpkin mixture into a mug.
  4. Add the brewed coffee or espresso to the mug.
  5. Stir well to combine.
  6. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, if desired.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, use almond milk, oat milk, or soy milk.
  • Adjust the amount of maple syrup or sugar to your preferred sweetness level.
  • If you don’t have pumpkin pie spice, you can make your own by combining cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.
  • To froth milk without an espresso machine, heat the milk and whisk vigorously until foamy, or use a French press to plunge the hot milk.
  • You can make a pumpkin spice syrup ahead of time by combining equal parts pumpkin puree, sugar, and water with spices, then simmering until thickened. Store in the refrigerator.
