Ingredients
Scale
1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
1/4 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso
2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
1–2 tablespoons maple syrup or sugar, to taste
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional: Whipped cream, extra pumpkin pie spice for topping
Instructions
Combine milk, pumpkin puree, maple syrup (or sugar), pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan.
Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until warm and well combined. Do not boil.
Pour the hot pumpkin mixture into a mug.
Add the brewed coffee or espresso to the mug.
Stir well to combine.
Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, if desired.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, use almond milk, oat milk, or soy milk.
Adjust the amount of maple syrup or sugar to your preferred sweetness level.
If you don’t have pumpkin pie spice, you can make your own by combining cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.
To froth milk without an espresso machine, heat the milk and whisk vigorously until foamy, or use a French press to plunge the hot milk.
You can make a pumpkin spice syrup ahead of time by combining equal parts pumpkin puree, sugar, and water with spices, then simmering until thickened. Store in the refrigerator.
