A simple and authentic Margherita pizza recipe featuring fresh basil, mozzarella, and tomatoes on a chewy, thin crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ball pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll out your pizza dough to your desired thickness.
  3. Transfer the dough to a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal or parchment paper.
  4. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
  5. Arrange the sliced fresh mozzarella over the sauce.
  6. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from oven, top with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, bake directly on a preheated pizza stone.
  • Use high-quality canned San Marzano tomatoes for the sauce for authentic flavor.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a touch of heat.
