Make comforting lasagna flavor without the fuss using this quick Lazy Lasagna Casserole recipe. This dish uses frozen ravioli as a shortcut, cutting down prep time for a fast, cheesy family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (24 ounce) package frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Mix until the ingredients are fully blended.
  3. Spread about 1 cup of marinara sauce evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. Arrange half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce.
  5. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the ravioli layer. Sprinkle with 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese.
  6. Spoon half of the remaining marinara sauce over the cheese layer.
  7. Add the remaining ravioli on top of the sauce. Spread the rest of the ricotta mixture over the ravioli.
  8. Top with the remaining marinara sauce, followed by the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and all of the Parmesan cheese.
  9. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  10. Bake for 25 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the casserole is heated through.
  12. Let the Lazy Lasagna rest for 5 minutes before you serve it.

Notes

  • For a meatier version, brown 1 pound of ground beef or Italian sausage and mix it into the marinara sauce before assembling the casserole.
  • You can substitute cottage cheese for ricotta cheese if you prefer a slightly different texture.
  • This recipe works well for freezer meal prep; cover tightly and freeze before baking. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before baking as directed, adding 10-15 minutes to the covered baking time.
