Make this satisfying hot honey chicken bowl for a quick weeknight dinner. You get sticky, sweet heat chicken served over rice with fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or your favorite hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups cooked brown rice or quinoa
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli florets
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 6 to 8 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, combine the chicken broth, honey, apple cider vinegar, sriracha, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly.
  4. Let the sauce simmer for 3 to 4 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Toss the chicken gently until every piece is coated in the hot honey sauce.
  6. To assemble your easy chicken bowl recipe, divide the cooked rice or quinoa among four bowls.
  7. Top the rice with the hot honey chicken, steamed broccoli, and shredded carrots.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving your spicy honey chicken dinner.

Notes

  • If you prefer an air fryer hot honey chicken, cook the seasoned chicken pieces at 380 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 minutes, flipping halfway. Toss with the prepared sauce after cooking.
  • For a different texture, substitute the steamed broccoli with a simple cabbage slaw for a cool contrast.
  • You can make the hot honey sauce ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to one week. Reheat gently before tossing with the cooked chicken.
