Ingredients
Scale
4 English muffins, split
1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Toppings of choice (e.g., pepperoni, sliced mushrooms, cooked sausage)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). If using a toaster oven, set it to toast or bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place the English muffin halves, cut-side up, on a baking sheet.
Lightly toast the muffin halves in the oven for 2 to 3 minutes until they feel slightly firm. This helps prevent a soggy crust.
Spread an even layer of pizza sauce over the toasted surface of each muffin half. Do not over-sauce.
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese, and any other desired cheeses, over the sauce.
Add your favorite toppings, such as pepperoni slices or vegetables, on top of the cheese.
Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 6 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted, bubbly, and the edges of the muffin are golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the oven and let cool for one minute before serving immediately.
Notes
For an Air Fryer version: Place two prepared muffin halves in the air fryer basket. Cook at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 4 to 6 minutes, checking halfway through to prevent burning.
To make this a breakfast pizza english muffin, substitute the pizza sauce with a thin layer of scrambled egg and top with cooked bacon or sausage and cheddar cheese.
You can assemble these mini pizzas ahead of time, place them on a baking sheet, cover loosely with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking.
