Make this creamy peanut sauce in under five minutes. It is a versatile sauce perfect for dipping, drizzling, or using as a salad dressing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sriracha or hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 24 tablespoons hot water (to thin)

Instructions

  1. Combine the peanut butter, soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and sriracha in a medium bowl.
  2. Whisk the ingredients together until mostly combined.
  3. Add the hot water one tablespoon at a time, whisking continuously until the sauce reaches your desired consistency. Start with 2 tablespoons and add more if you want a thinner dressing.
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings, adding more heat or sweetness if needed.
  5. Use immediately as a dip, dressing, or marinade. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

  • For a Vegan Peanut Sauce, use maple syrup instead of honey.
  • To make this Gluten Free Peanut Dressing, use tamari instead of standard soy sauce.
  • This sauce works well as a marinade for chicken or tofu; let it sit for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
  • If the sauce thickens too much upon refrigeration, whisk in a small amount of warm water before serving.
