Ingredients
Scale
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
1 (6.5 ounce) can minced clams, drained well
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup finely chopped green onions (scallions)
Salt and black pepper to taste
Crackers, chips, or vegetable sticks for serving
Instructions
Place the softened cream cheese and sour cream in a medium mixing bowl. Beat them together with a hand mixer or a sturdy spoon until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
Add the drained minced clams, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder to the cream cheese mixture. Mix until these ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the base.
Fold in the chopped green onions gently. Do not overmix.
Taste the dip and season with salt and black pepper as needed. Remember that canned clams can vary in saltiness.
Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap. Chill the clam dip in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving. Chilling allows the flavors to blend.
Serve your homemade clam dip cold with your favorite crackers, potato chips, or fresh vegetables.
Notes
For the best texture, make sure you drain the canned clams thoroughly before adding them to the dip mixture. Press them between paper towels if necessary.
You can prepare this dip up to 24 hours in advance. Keep it covered in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve it.
If you prefer a tangier flavor, substitute an additional tablespoon of lemon juice for the Worcestershire sauce.
