1 lb ground beef
3 teaspoons olive oil
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 medium onion, diced
8 oz bowtie (farfalle) pasta
1 1/2 cups beef broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or pot over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until soft, about 3 minutes.
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break the beef apart with a spoon and cook until browned. Drain any excess grease.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer.
Stir in the bowtie pasta. Cover the skillet and cook according to the pasta package directions, usually about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Add a little water if the liquid evaporates before the pasta is cooked.
Once the pasta is tender, reduce the heat to low. Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese.
Continue stirring until the sauce is smooth and creamy and has thickened slightly. Do not boil after adding the cream and cheese.
Season with salt and black pepper to your preference.
Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use high-quality Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese.
If the sauce becomes too thick, add a splash of milk or reserved pasta water to thin it slightly.
Add 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes with the garlic for a touch of heat.
