Make perfectly crisp, sweet roasted nuts with this simple recipe for cinnamon sugar pecans. This method uses few ingredients and delivers a non-sticky, crunchy coating ideal for snacking or holiday gifts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk the egg white and water together until slightly frothy.
  3. Add the pecan halves to the egg white mixture and toss until the nuts are evenly coated.
  4. In a separate small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Pour the sugar mixture over the coated pecans. Toss well until every pecan is covered with the cinnamon sugar coating.
  6. Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not let them touch.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring the pecans every 10 minutes to prevent burning and promote even crisping.
  8. Remove from the oven when the coating looks dry and the nuts are lightly browned.
  9. Let the pecans cool completely on the baking sheet. They will crisp up as they cool.
  10. Store your crunchy snack recipe in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

  • For an extra layer of flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg white mixture.
  • If you want to use these as salad topping pecans, spread them out on a cool plate immediately after removing them from the oven to ensure maximum crispiness.
  • You can substitute pecans with walnuts or almonds if you wish to make sweet roasted nuts using a different base.
