Combine the gooey sweetness of cinnamon rolls with spiced apple pie filling in this easy, impressive hybrid dessert bake.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (13.2 ounce) package refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
  • 2 large cans (21 ounces each) pre-made apple pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Open the package of cinnamon rolls. Separate the rolls but do not unroll them. Place the individual rolls close together in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the pre-made apple pie filling with the ground cinnamon and granulated sugar. Stir gently to combine the spices with the apples.
  4. Spoon the apple pie filling mixture evenly over the layer of cinnamon rolls in the baking dish.
  5. Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the apple filling.
  6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through. The filling should be bubbly.
  7. Remove the dish from the oven. Immediately open the icing packets that came with the cinnamon rolls. Drizzle the icing generously over the hot bake.
  8. Let the bake cool for about 10 minutes before serving. This allows the icing to set slightly and the filling to firm up.

Notes

  • For an extra gooey texture, you can use a slightly smaller baking dish, like a 9×9 inch square pan, which will make the layers thicker.
  • If you prefer a less sweet result, discard the icing packets and use a simple glaze made from 1/2 cup powdered sugar mixed with 2 tablespoons of milk.
  • This dessert works well served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
