Make this incredibly simple and creamy Chili Cheese Dip using only three main ingredients. It is the ultimate crowd-pleasing appetizer for parties or game nights and comes together fast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15 ounce) can chili (no beans recommended)
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded pepper jack cheese (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Combine the canned chili and softened cream cheese in a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until the cream cheese is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and combined. This usually takes about 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and the optional pepper jack cheese until completely melted and the dip is creamy. Do not let the mixture boil once the cheese is added.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and keep warm until serving.
  5. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping items.

Notes

  • For a slow cooker option, combine all ingredients in a small slow cooker and cook on LOW for 1 to 2 hours, stirring halfway through, until smooth and hot.
  • If you prefer a spicier dip, use a spicy variety of canned chili or add a dash of hot sauce during the final mixing stage.
  • Serve this best chili cheese dip with tortilla chips, sturdy crackers, celery sticks, or sliced baguette pieces.
