You can make this incredibly simple Cherry Dump Cake using only three ingredients: cherry pie filling, dry yellow cake mix, and butter. This recipe requires no mixing and results in a warm, bubbly, and gooey cherry dessert that is perfect for potlucks or last-minute treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Spread it into an even layer.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the top of the cherry pie filling. Do not mix the layers.
  4. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
  5. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly around the edges.
  6. Let the dump cake cool slightly before serving warm with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can substitute the yellow cake mix with chocolate cake mix for a chocolate cherry dump cake variation.
  • If you prefer a crispier topping, you can use cold, cubed butter instead of melted butter, though melted butter ensures better coverage.
  • This recipe is excellent for potlucks because it travels well and is a crowd-pleaser.
