This caramel apple dump cake uses minimal ingredients for a warm, gooey fall dessert. You just layer apple pie filling, cake mix, caramel, and butter, then bake for a simple, comforting treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix (dry mix only)
  • 1 cup caramel bits or chips
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of apple pie filling into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Spread it into an even layer.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the apple layer. Do not stir or mix the layers.
  4. Scatter the caramel bits evenly over the top of the dry cake mix.
  5. Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the entire surface, aiming to cover the cake mix as much as possible.
  6. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly around the edges.
  7. Let the dump cake cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a slow cooker method, grease a 6-quart slow cooker insert. Layer the ingredients as directed, then cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or on high for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • Serve this warm caramel apple treat with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent experience.
  • If you do not have caramel bits, you can use 1 cup of caramel sauce drizzled over the cake mix layer instead of the bits and butter.
