Ingredients
Scale
1 large loaf of Italian or French bread (about 12–14 inches long)
1 pound ground beef (or ground sausage)
1 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
1 cup pepperoni, chopped
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until fully browned. Drain off all excess grease. Set the cooked meat aside.
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix well.
Slice the loaf of bread lengthwise, cutting almost all the way through, leaving about a half-inch intact at the bottom crust to hold the loaf together.
Brush the butter-garlic mixture evenly over the inside surfaces of the cut bread.
Layer the fillings inside the bread. Start with half of the mozzarella and cheddar cheese, then sprinkle the cooked ground beef, crumbled bacon, and chopped pepperoni evenly over the cheese layer.
Top the meat mixture with the remaining mozzarella and cheddar cheese, followed by the Parmesan cheese.
Carefully close the loaf. If needed, secure the loaf with toothpicks placed crosswise along the length.
Wrap the entire loaf loosely in aluminum foil.
Bake for 20 minutes wrapped in foil.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
Let the Garbage Bread cool for 5 minutes before slicing completely through the cross-hatch pattern and serving this crowd-pleasing appetizer.
Notes
For a quick dinner bread idea, substitute the ground beef with cooked shredded chicken or Italian sausage.
You can customize the cheese blend; Monterey Jack or Provolone work well for extra gooey texture.
If you prefer a pull-apart bread style, cut the loaf completely through before adding fillings, then reassemble before baking.
