Make this creamy, cheesy dip that tastes just like garlic bread. It is a simple, hot appetizer perfect for parties or game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head garlic
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. Roast the garlic: Slice about 1/4 inch off the top of the garlic head to expose the cloves. Drizzle with a small amount of olive oil, wrap in foil, and bake for 30 to 40 minutes until soft. Let it cool slightly.
  3. Squeeze the roasted garlic pulp out of the skin into a medium bowl. Mash the cloves with a fork.
  4. Add the softened cream cheese, sour cream, 1 cup mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the bowl with the roasted garlic.
  5. Mix all ingredients together until completely combined and smooth.
  6. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese over the top.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly and the cheese topping is melted and lightly golden brown.
  9. Let the dip cool for 5 minutes before serving warm with crusty bread or crackers.

Notes

  • For a quicker option, skip roasting the garlic and use 1 teaspoon of garlic powder instead of roasted garlic pulp.
  • Serve this dip with toasted baguette slices, sourdough bread, or sturdy crackers.
  • You can prepare the dip mixture up to 2 days ahead and store it covered in the refrigerator before baking.
