Make these incredibly easy baked ham and cheese croissants for a satisfying breakfast, snack, or light lunch. They are flaky, buttery, and filled with savory ham and gooey melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 large pre-made croissants
  • 8 slices deli ham
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese or Gruyère
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Slice each croissant in half lengthwise, creating a top and bottom piece.
  3. If using, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on the inside of the bottom half of each croissant.
  4. Layer 1 slice of ham and 1 slice of cheese onto the bottom half of each croissant. Top with the other croissant half.
  5. Place the assembled croissants onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Brush the tops of the croissants lightly with the beaten egg wash. This helps them brown nicely.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese inside is fully melted and gooey.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a sprinkle of dried herbs like parsley or chives over the cheese before baking.
  • If you prefer a crispier exterior, bake for a few extra minutes until the pastry is very golden.
  • This recipe works well with pre-cooked turkey bacon added with the ham for extra texture.
