Make this simple, crowd-pleasing baked brie appetizer wrapped in puff pastry. It is gooey, elegant, and perfect for your next gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8 ounce) wheel of brie cheese, cold
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/4 cup fig jam
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. If using puff pastry, unfold the sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into a square large enough to fully wrap the brie wheel.
  3. Place the cold brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry.
  4. Spread the fig jam evenly over the top surface of the brie wheel.
  5. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the jam layer.
  6. Carefully fold the edges of the puff pastry up and over the brie, sealing the edges tightly to completely enclose the cheese. Trim any excess pastry.
  7. Place the wrapped brie, seam-side down, onto the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Brush the entire surface of the pastry with the beaten egg wash. This helps it brown nicely.
  9. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the cheese inside is melted and gooey.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving.
  11. Drizzle the warm baked brie with honey just before serving.

Notes

  • For a crispier bottom crust, chill the wrapped brie for 15 minutes before baking.
  • Serve this melty cheese dip for crackers, sliced baguette, or fresh apple slices.
  • If you skip the pastry, bake the brie directly on parchment paper for about 10-12 minutes until soft.
