Ingredients
Scale
2 large ripe avocados
1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
1/4 cup water (add more for thinner consistency)
1 clove garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a food processor or high-speed blender.
Add the cilantro, lime juice, water, garlic, salt, and pepper to the food processor.
Process the ingredients until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
If you want a thinner avocado sauce for dressing, add water one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
Taste the sauce and adjust salt or lime juice if necessary.
Use immediately as a topping for tacos, a dip, or a salad dressing.
Notes
For a healthier variation using Greek yogurt, substitute 1/4 cup of the water with plain Greek yogurt.
To keep this sauce vegan and dairy-free, use only water or a dairy-free alternative.
This recipe is naturally gluten-free and fits Whole30 guidelines if you omit any added sweeteners.
If you need an easy avocado crema for burritos, use slightly less water for a thicker texture.
