Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (16 ounce) jar dill pickle slices, drained
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Pat the drained pickle slices completely dry with paper towels. This is crucial for crispiness.
  2. Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes. Place flour in the first dish. In the second dish, place the beaten eggs. In the third dish, combine panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  3. Working in batches, dredge each pickle slice first in flour, shaking off any excess.
  4. Dip the floured pickle slice into the beaten eggs, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  5. Press the egg-coated pickle slice into the panko mixture, coating both sides evenly.
  6. Place the breaded pickle slices in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  7. Lightly spray the pickles with cooking spray.
  8. Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 8-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer model.
  9. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can double-bread the pickles: after the first breading, dip them in egg again and then back into the panko mixture.
  • Preheating your air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes before adding the pickles helps ensure they cook evenly and get crispy.
  • If you have leftovers, reheat them in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-5 minutes to restore crispiness.
  • Consider serving with a creamy ranch or spicy aioli dipping sauce.
